(OOC: This thread is for the actual RP'ing of The New World. The other thread is for discussion about it)
At the border of Lufia World and Essaref, there is a road that connects the two lands. One night, a stranger scurried from Lufia World along this road right to the edge of Lufia World, carrying a large package. He made to step over the border, but he suddenly saw that he about to step over the big red line drawn on the ground to mark the border. He withdrew his foot, and waited.
He had barely waited a few seconds before a dark cloaked one appeared before him. His face was not visible in the darkness. The stranger shivered.
“Good evening, Eric,” the dark one spoke. “I trust you got hold of it without trouble?”
“W-well,” Eric said uncomfortably, “I got it alright, but I did have some problems getting it. You see, as I-”
“Good,” interrupted the other. “Give it to me.”
Eric stared at him. “Er… of course. You… have my payment, don’t you?”
“I do.”
“Well…?” Eric looked at him expectantly.
“Give me the stone, and you shall receive what is rightfully yours.”
Eric was looking very uneasy now. “Can’t you just… you know…”
“What?”
“Could you give it to me first?”
“No,” the cloaked man said simply.
“I don’t trust you folk, you know,” Eric said, now gathering his courage. “I’ve heard stories about you… I’m sure you’ll run away with the money as soon as I give you this.”
The other man laughed mockingly. It was not a laugh of joy. “Now, now… I thought that you were more intelligent than one who bases his thoughts purely on rumours, rather than on what he sees with his own set of eyes.”
Eric hesitated.
“Besides, you say you have heard stories about us. I care not what they involve, but have you ever heard anyone claim us to be unfair? When I promise something, I uphold that promise. That is my way.”
Eric still didn’t say anything. Now that he thought about it, no one had ever said anything about something like this.
“I have started this bargain my own way. I would finish it my own way as well,” said the man.
“Well, I don’t care!” said Eric. “You give me the money, and I’ll give you your stone.”
“If that is your way, then we are done talking. Good day.”
He turned around, and made to leave.
“Wait!” said Eric, panicking. “You can’t leave me here like this! What am I to do with this stupid stone? It’s useless to me!”
“Then throw it away,” said the cloaked man, without turning back to Eric. “Throw the stone away, and with that stone, the chance of gaining ten million gold pieces.”
Eric gasped. “All… All right then, you win. You’d better keep to your promise, or I’ll…”
“Or you’ll?” the man repeated. “You would do nothing against it. It is not in your power. But you are fortunate enough to meet an honest man. Let us complete our little bargain.”
Eric swallowed, and shoved the package over the border. The man seized it, and, with a mere movement of his hand, slit it open. Inside, something shimmered. The man grinned.
“Well?” Eric said urgently. He was desperate to get paid and leave.
The man sighed. “Patience is a rare quality, I see.”
He withdrew from inside his cloak a very large sack. He made it float over the border, and Eric grabbed it. He was pleased to feel that it was very heavy. He dropped it on the ground, and opened it with a knife. He gave a shout of joy, seeing the amount of gold in it. “HAHA! I’M RICH! I’M RIIIIIIIIIIIIIICH!”
“Very good,” said the other man. “Might I count on your services again in the future, now that you have seen that I AM trustworthy?”
“Of course not,” said Eric, laughing. “I don’t need your jobs anymore. I am filthy rich!” He suddenly stopped, wondering if the man would get angry and attack him.
But he merely said, “Very well then,” and set off.
“Hey!” shouted Eric. “You’re not leaving me here, are you?”
“Why not? Our business is done. I have nothing to do with you anymore.”
“But how am I supposed to get away from this place?”
The cloaked man chuckled. “That is your problem, is it not? It would be much easier if you could just… warp.”
With that last word, he was gone, leaving Eric behind cursing him.
The cloaked man reappeared at the foot of a lake. Across the lake, there was a large circular island. He caressed the package, which was very light. “A praise for Guard Daos,” he said to himself, grinning, “for acquiring the second piece of Floatium.”
